Welcome to the
Gronovius
family tree.
The Gronovius name is written in different ways: Van Gronau, Gro(e)nou, Gronow,
Gronau, Gronauw, untill Johann
Frederich (1611-1671) changed the name into latin making it Gronovius. A lot of
the information is based on an article by Bijleveld in the "Nederlandsche
Leeuw 1942" and other sources from the web. According to research by Tito
Gronow, a Finnish branch took the name - Orjala
meaning slave. One (Protestant) son felt himself as a slave of God and changed
his name to Orjala.
